Meet Vanessa Tania Hasenhundl

Tania's water broke around 1:00 AM on December 21. Shortly thereafter, she started having contractions.
At first they were about 10 minutes apart, but they quickly got closer to 5 minutes apart.

We had the doctor paged just before 2:00 AM. He called us back at 2:10 and told us to go to the hospital.

We arrived at Lutheran Medical Center at about 2:45, and when the nurse checked out Tania just after 3:00 AM,
she was already dilated to 6 cm, she was 80% effaced and the baby was at zero station.
We were glad to here that! The nurse was impressed.

About 1/2 an hour later, at 3:34, she was at 7 cm, and decided to take advantage of the jacuzzi tub.
She got in at 3:45 and was only in for 30 minutes when the nurse came back to check on her.
She was fully dilated and it was only 4:15!

The nurse didn't expect her to go that quickly and hadn't called the doctor yet,
Tania got out of the tub almost right away, and had to resist the the urges to push
while waiting for the doctor.

Tania made it look so easy. The nurse was totally impressed! So was I!

The doctor arrived at 4:45 and told her to start pushing if she felt the urge. Well it didn't take too long after that...

At 5:08 AM on December 21, 2000, barely 4 hours after Tania's water broke,
our beautiful baby daughter was born.

Here's me cutting the cord (the clock on my video camera is a bit fast :)
Mother and daughter just after birth.

A couple more just minutes after birth...

Here she is getting cleaned up a little
And in this corner, weighing in at 6 lbs, 15 ozs, and 21 inches long...

Here she is getting footprinted
Mother and daughter again

Her first "bath"
Her first shampoo

Her first hairdo :)
Here she is waiting patiently (yeah, right :) to be dressed

A feeble attempt at a "self" portrait of (very proud) father and daughter
